Mott FoundationGrant Purpose - This grant will provide the University of Michigan-Flint with funds to reopen Kearsley Street through the campus. Kearsley Street, a cross street through central Flint, is currently closed to vehicular traffic through the university campus, which results in a perceived and real disconnect between key institutions and neighborhoods in central Flint. The reopened Kearsley Street will incorporate traffic-calming techniques that promote vehicular and pedestrian safety, noise and vibration-dampening methods for nearby classroom buildings, and attractive landscaping.
