Louisiana Environmental Action Network Grant
Organization - Louisiana Environmental Action Network
Grant Amount - $150,000
Foundation -
Mott FoundationGrant Purpose - Louisiana's freshwater resources, while extensive and productive, are under considerable stress due to a variety of pollution sources. In response, the Louisiana Environmental Action Network, a statewide membership organization, works to improve implementation of the federal Clean Water Act and related policies. Past achievements include: constructive reforms in Louisiana's water permitting practices, improvements in specific water quality discharge permits, and positive changes in the disposal of debris left in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. With renewed Mott support, the network will continue such efforts to fully and effectively implement existing clean water policies as well as promote incentive-based policies that would further reduce water pollution in the state.
