Environmental Defence Grant

Organization - Environmental Defence
Grant Amount - $160,000
Foundation - Mott Foundation
Grant Purpose - Despite progress over the past few decades, the Great Lakes continue to face significant threats that imperil their ecological vitality and affect human uses. With renewed Mott support, Environmental Defence, a national environmental group based in Toronto, will continue to help lead the environmental community's efforts to address these threats by working to implement the Ontario Clean Water Act, foster policy reforms through the review of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, and take a series of steps to implement the Great Lakes Blueprint, an action plan developed by the environmental community. Grant funds in the first year will also be used to assess how climate change may impact the region's freshwater resources and actions that could be taken to adapt to such impacts.
