Mott FoundationGrant Purpose - The effects of climate change in the Great Lakes region are expected to be quite serious, impacting shipping channels, commercial fisheries, natural habitats, and more. To protect the region's long-term economic, social, and environmental health, it will be necessary to integrate climate change information into the resource management decisions made by public and private organizations and make appropriate public policy adjustments. To assist in addressing this climate information gap, Michigan Sea Grant, part of the University of Michigan's School of Natural Resources and Environment, will hold a workshop for selected members of the Great Lakes funding and policy community. Mott funds will provide partial support for the meeting activities, including the preparation of briefing materials in advance of the meeting and distribution of a final report with recommended action steps.
