Mott FoundationGrant Purpose - Great Lakes United is a binational network of organizations founded in 1982 to protect and restore the Great Lakes ecosystem. With prior Mott support, the organization has worked on a range of issues such as improving regional water planning and conservation, updating deficient sewage treatment infrastructure, controlling invasive species, and building public support for new public investment in Great Lakes restoration. With renewal support, the organization will continue this and similar program work while also strengthening its own institutional capacity by broadening its membership base and diversifying its funding sources.
