The New Lexington City School District is getting $16.4 million from the Ohio Department of Education to expand workforce development and physical health services.
The money is part of $88 million awarded to 11 Appalachian school districts to help them improve public health and enhance workforce development in their areas, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
"Investing in locations where the community can receive care and education opportunities is vital to Perry County's physical and economic health," state Rep.
Mark Johnson says in a press release.
The money will be used to expand the district's health clinic, add specialized classrooms and labs, expand the Workforce Development Center, and create a multi-purpose area for training, physical health, and wellness, according to the release.
