Grant Purpose - Established in 1917, the Flint Institute of Music operates in the Dort Music Center building on the Flint Cultural Center campus. The institute completed an expansion and renovation of its building in 2005 to increase its capacity to better serve students and patrons. During the past year, 228,000 children and adults attended concerts, received instruction in music and dance, or participated in special events offered by the Flint Institute of Music. The institute will continue its efforts to provide more diverse programming and expand outreach activities. This grant will provide operating support to the Flint Institute of Music.
