International Institute for Sustainable Development Grant

Organization - International Institute for Sustainable Development
Grant Amount - $50,000
Foundation - Mott Foundation
Grant Purpose - This grant will provide continued funding for the International Institute for Sustainable Development's well-regarded electronic news service, "Investment Treaty News". "Investment Treaty News" covers the piecemeal regime of international rules governing foreign investment flows and the emerging policy implications of these rules, particularly its sustainable development impacts. The "Investment Treaty News" monitors new treaty negotiations, summarizes legal disputes between foreign investors and host governments, and publicizes events and resources related to this field. In the next grant period, there will be detailed coverage of such high profile arbitrations as disputes over international affirmative action policies (primarily the Black Economic Empowerment policies in South Africa) and the land-use planning and permitting for gold mining in the United States.
