Mott FoundationGrant Purpose - This grant continues support for the Ikhala Trust, an indigenous funder that provides small grants to community organizations primarily for HIV/AIDS prevention and economic development in South Africa's Eastern Cape region. The trust also provides technical assistance and training on organizational and resource development issues through workshops, seminars, and conferences. Future activities include continuing its core programs while also increasing efforts to support grantees, providing advocacy training, helping to increase funding to grantees from individual donors, and improving governance and management of the trust through board development and staff assessment. Since its inception in 2002, the trust has assisted more than 140 grassroots organizations.
