Mott FoundationGrant Purpose - Flint STRIVE provides employment training, placement, and support to inner-city Flint residents seeking private-sector jobs. The program prepares participants for the workforce through a three-week workshop, which focuses on the attitudinal prerequisites for successful entry-level employment. Since its inception in 2001, Flint STRIVE has placed 1,297 program graduates into jobs, with 75 percent of those placed in jobs remaining employed after two years. This grant will allow Flint STRIVE to provide services to 200 new clients in 2008, and follow-up support services to all existing clients.
