Grant Purpose - This grant will provide funding for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Summer Institute in 2008, a project of Synergy Enterprises, Inc. The 21st Century Community Learning Centers initiative provides grants to inner-city and rural schools working in close cooperation with community organizations and other education and youth development agencies to provide expanded learning opportunities outside of regular school hours for children in a safe and smart environment. The purpose of this conference is to provide workshops to familiarize grant recipients with grants administration assistance and with successful strategies in supporting academic content, using innovative content, using data effectively, and building the capacity of staff. The annual summer institute is one of the training and technical assistance activities the Mott Foundation has agreed to sponsor as part of our partnership with the U.S. Department of Education. This year's event will commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the Summer Institute.
