Grant Purpose - This grant will provide continued support to Fair Share, based at the University of the Western Cape. Fair Share's focus is to increase the quality and extent of community participation in municipal planning and budgeting processes. Its newest initiative, the Budget Advocacy and Monitoring Resources program, will work with community organizations in Limpopo, KwaZulu-Natal, and Western Cape provinces, providing training and capacity building on budget advocacy and monitoring to both community organizations and municipal leaders. The grant will also support Fair Share to continue to conduct research, produce and disseminate publications on municipal budgeting, and share lessons learned.
