In 2019, at just 18 years old, Ferreira's invention saw him become the Global Grand Prize Winner at the Google Science Fair.
Rifath Shaarook, who comes from a small town in Tamil Nadu, India, kicked off his invention career at 15 years old by developing a lightweight helium weather balloon.
At 11, Rao won the top prize at the Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge.
She has also exhibited at the White House Science Fair and spoken at the United Nations Science, Technology, and Innovation Summit.
