"As a result, more Arkansans will be able to have healthy smiles."
Those are the words of Sharon Lanier, executive director of the Delta Dental of Arkansas Foundation, which is changing the way it awards grants to charitable dental organizations in the state.
The foundation, which is affiliated with the nation's second-largest dental organization, is changing the way it awards grants, from an annual to rolling process, effective June 17, 2024, Arkansas Matters reports.
Instead of annual grants, the rolling grants will be issued shortly after the first January of the year, with the amounts unchanged from the previous year.
"We made these changes in response to the needs we observed in the community," Lanier says in a press release.
"As a result, more Arkansans will be able to have healthy smiles."
Last year, the foundation's Community Grants grants helped more than 40,600 Arkansans get treatment for painful toothaches and gum disease.
The new grants will focus on treatment rather than education, and the amount of each grant will remain the same, between $2,500 and $40,000.
