Michigan wants to make its ports more energy efficient and less reliant on fossil fuels.
The state's Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy is seeking proposals to create a maritime strategy that will "advance greening, electrification, decarbonization, equity and environmental justice, infrastructure, and the sustainability of Michigan's maritime sector, while ensuring the efficient movement of goods," the department says in a press release.
The application period is Oct.
1, 2024, to Sept.
30, 2025.
One chosen applicant will receive a maximum of $200,000, reports WLUC.
