Foundation: Community Foundation of Broward
"You are the first city to establish an endowed charitable fund that invests in your own community, and that is a huge accomplishment that will change lives for generations to come."
That's the message from Jennifer O'Flannery Anderson, CEO of the Community Foundation of Broward, which has received a $50,000 gift from the Hudson Family Foundation to establish the Oakland Park Community Fund, per a press release.
The fund, which will be managed by the foundation, will be the first of its kind in Broward County.
"The fund that we're going to house at the Community Foundation will be another tool and asset that all of you have to improve your quality of life and to invest in parks or educational opportunities for kids, to invest in public art or the environment; the opportunities are limitless," Anderson tells the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
"Over time the fund will grow as additional business leaders and families step up to contribute to the fund," she adds.
"You are the first city to establish an endowed charitable fund that invests in your own community, and that is a huge accomplishment that will change lives for generations to come."
