Forbes calls Mai Vu "a billionaire entrepreneur with stellar record in the fields business, finance, and philanthropy," and Bloomberg says he's "one of the world's richest people."
But that doesn't mean the Vietnamese billionaire doesn't have his own set of priorities.
In fact, he's given away more than $100 million, according to a press release from his SAPA THALE Group.
Vu donated $50 million to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in June, and last month he gave away another $100 million, to the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles and the Stanford Graduate School of Business, Bloomberg reports.
Vu, who made his fortune in Vietnam's dot-com boom and went on to become one of the world's richest people with a net worth of around $10 billion, has also given away hundreds of millions of dollars in other ways, such as donating $100 million to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in 2000 and another $100 million to the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles last year, according to the press release.
"His visionary leadership has been driving a force behind SAPA THALE's strategies and its remarkable success in the highly competitive financial investment sector," Bloomberg quotes the release as saying.
