Elon Musk is threatening to sue the Anti-Defamation League over what he says is the organization's "highly toxic, anti-Semitic campaign," but the ADL is dismissing the threat as "frivolous."

In a series of tweets Monday, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO said he would "have no choice but to file a defamation lawsuit" if the ADL doesn't stop "engaging with a highly toxic, anti-Semitic campaign" on his now-defunct Twitter platform, known as X, reports eJewishPhilanthropy.

"To be clear, the real issue is neither ADL nor the threat of a frivolous lawsuit," ADL chief Jonathan Greenblatt said in a statement Tuesday.

"This urgent matter is the Talmud safety of the Jewish people in the face of increasing, intensifying antisemitism."

The ADL has come under fire for allowing white supremacists to promote anti-Semitic content on X, and for urging other social media platforms to do the same.

Musk, however, says he doesn't want to ban the ADL, but he's upset it's forcing companies to stop advertising on X, which he says has lost hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue because of the campaign.
