The Ontario Externship Program provides nursing and health-care students with the opportunity to get valuable hospital experience while also increasing the province's health-care workforce.
Actively, there are over 3,100 externs working throughout the province, including 93 who are currently enrolled in the program at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Fort Worth.
The John Howard Society of York Region is a cherished member of our community, providing assistance to families through tough times and contributing to the development of a strong and safe Ontario for future generations.
When I recently visited with them, I was interested in learning more about the effect of two Ontario Trillium Foundation awards that gave them with a total of more than $405,000. Because of these subsidies, they have been able to extend their programming for adolescents and experiment with new techniques, ensuring that members can continue to access the services they depend on both during and after the epidemic.
