Indy awards $400,000 to 40 community organizations for crime-prevention projects.

City-County Council in partnership with Office of Public Health and Safety, Central Indiana Community Foundation.

Each council member picked funding priorities for their district using district-level data.

A second round of funding will be available later this year, according to the organizations."We have the relationships within our community to make a difference," says Peter Thawnghmung, president of Chin Community of Indiana.
