Truman Heartland Community Foundation has a plan for long-term community investment.
"Our grants are an investment in our community and an important part of our plan to strengthen our region for the future," the foundation says.
The foundation is funded by donations from individuals and families in the community.
The organization has raised more than $1 million in the last five years.
