The National Park Foundation has chosen the Golden Gate National Parks to be the recipient of the 2012 Active Trails and America’s Best Ideas grants. The objective of the grants is to promote national parks as venues for community engagement, and encourages healthy living through various forms of recreation and volunteer service on land and water trails.
In the Golden Gate National Parks, the Active Trails grant will support the innovative Teens on Trails program and our drop-in volunteer programs for individuals of all ages and abilities. Also, the America’s Best Ideas grant funds park projects designed to connect diverse, under-engaged populations throughout the United States with their national parks in innovative and meaningful ways.
