The Yankton Area Foundation embarks its first time conducting pledge drive together with the South Dakota Community Foundation. The pledge started with the challenge and if the local can raise $200,000 in the next couple years, the South Dakota Community Foundation will give it $25,000.
The Yankton Area Foundation has awarded community entities a grant in the amount of $243,000. Through the foundation’s history, grants have been given to a variety of different organizations including the Habitat for Humanity, the Yankton Women’s Shelter, the Auld-Brokaw Trail, the Yankton Ice Association and Keep Yankton Beautiful. The foundation is also interested in helping organizations start their own endowment funds under its umbrella like the Yankton Senior Citizens Center and Yankton Senior Citizens Meals Fund.
