The Douglas County Community Foundation awarded grants to a wide range of causes this year totaling nearly $149,000 went to 40 area organizations, which is the highest number of individual grants of the organization since inception.
According to Marilyn Hull, the organization's program and communications officer the increase in the number of grants reflects a growing need for social services in the community and a boost in donations to the foundation.
