If you're looking for a little something different to do on your next trip to Indonesia, there's a theater you may want to check out.
Located on the island of Java, the 2,000-year-old theater is called ludruk, which means "drama performance" in the Indonesian language, and it's one of the country's most popular attractions, reports the Jakarta Post.
It's also one of the only ludruk theaters in the world that's exclusively performed by men.
"Because it is packaged well and full of humor, the ludruk theater performance becomes exciting and entertaining," the Post explains.
Another popular attraction is lenong, or folk art, which is performed in the Betawi dialect and tells stories based on everyday life.
"It was once considered a sacred art performed only in the palace environment," the Post notes.
"However, in 1922, ketoprak started to be appreciated by the broader community," it adds.
"In contrast to ludruk, which tells stories about everyday life problems, ketoprak presents performances originating from Javanese legends and still often includes the original meaning of a story."
