The San Diego Foundation awarded $838,704 in Opening the Outdoors grants to 24 nonprofit organizations.

The grantees will help address inequities and enhance access to the outdoors throughout San Diego County.

Christina DeBenedict is the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of the UC San Diego.

She also serves as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Advancement Services at UC SanDiego.

Weston Mill-based social enterprise Surplus Rescue CIC (Community Interest Company) recycles and finds homes for unwanted furniture. To date, it has received “extensive amounts” of quality second-hand furniture including desks, pedestals, cupboards and office chairs from a former local authority office equipment – and wants to find them a good home.
