The Three Valleys Community Foundation distributed nearly $4.5 million in the past year.
More than half of the total was for the Alameda County Opioid Innovative Mini-Grants.
The money came from a legal settlement with the pharmaceutical companies that manufacture fentanyl and other opioids.
The initial round of grants will go to recipients by April 1, CEO Kelly Bowers said.
