New York state is kicking off a major renovation project at nine of its airports in an effort to boost the local economy.
The Adirondack Regional Airport in Harrietstown is among them, and the $8.5 million project will include an overhaul of the airport's underground infrastructure, as well as upgrades to the ticketing booth and indoor cafe, the Adirondack Daily Enterprise reports.
"When you really talk about economic development, this, in my mind, is that ideal model," says state Sen.

The project is expected to create 90 jobs.
