Npcf Awards $15K in Grants to Madison County Nonprofits

Families in Madison County, Va., who rely on food stamps will soon be getting more than they bargained for.
The Madison Emergency Services Association has received a $15,000 grant from the Piedmont Community Foundation to buy 250 eggs a month for 125 families, reports the Roanoke Times.
The Everyday Essentials Project, which MESA is a member of, buys the eggs from the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, which is a participant in the food bank's Healthy Pantry Initiative.
"With the new grant funding from NPCF's Madison County Annual Grant, MESA will enhance its capacity by purchasing an additional 250 eggs each month, ensuring that 125 families can access this essential staple," says NPCF Executive Director Jane Bowling-Wilson in a press release.
The other recipients of the grant: the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central VA, the Madison Free Clinic, Skyline CAP, MadCats, MESA, Literacy Council of Madison County, Madison Learning Center, and Piedmont CASA.
