When Dr. Anosh Ahmed saw the world through the eyes of his father, who suffered from poor health, he "found himself tackling a challenge by default, which aroused a sensitivity for the people suffering the consequences of hardships," the Pakistani-American doctor writes on his foundation's website.

That sensitivity has led him to create the Anosh Ahmed Foundation, which aims to alleviate inequality in education, health care, and other areas, and to "deliver what he calls a ripple effect of compassion and good change," according to its website.

Among the foundation's projects: mobile health clinics, youth mentorship programs, and scholarships for students from "disadvantaged backgrounds."

"Seeing so many inequalities in healthcare & education caused Dr Ahmed to get fascinated with philanthropy," he writes.

"His vision for a better world."
