So says Kimberly Griffin, dean of the University of Maryland College of Education, in announcing the appointment ofMonifa McKnight as its inaugural Dean's Fellow and Superintendent in Residence.
McKnight, who served as superintendent and deputy superintendent of Maryland's Montgomery County Public Schools, will help strengthen partnerships between the college and PK-12 schools across the state, according to the school.
"Strong partnerships between our college and PK-12 schools are essential for preparing future educators and fostering practical learning experiences that ensure a brighter future for all students," Griffin says.
McKnight, who graduated from the University of Maryland with an Ed.D.
in educational policy and leadership, has more than 25 years of experience in school administration and instructional leadership.
She has led various strategic initiatives, including establishing a principal pipeline for Howard County Public Schools; focusing on teacher professional development, and enhancing student achievement and school climate in individual schools in Maryland and Virginia.
