"We will make Maryland the best place in the world to change the world."

So says Maryland Gov.

Wes Moore in announcing his state's first-ever partnership with Bloomberg Philanthropies to promote public sector innovation, the Baltimore Sun reports.

"This new partnership will help us discover new and creative ways to deliver for Marylanders, and continue my administration's assault on child poverty," Moore says in a press release.

"Currently, one in eight Marylanders lives in poverty," and nearly half of those are children, according to the Sun.

Moore's top priority is reducing child poverty, and the Innovation Team he's forming with Bloomberg Philanthropies will help him do just that.

The seven-person team, led by a chief innovation officer, will identify, test, and pilot new initiatives to address child poverty.

"By bringing this proven model to the state level, we hope to help Governor Wes Moore accelerate his efforts to reduce poverty, including by expanding access to programs like the Earned Income Tax Credit, and bring more opportunity to communities that need them most," Bloomberg says in the press release.
