"We focused on making patient care better, safer, and more equitable and inclusive,"Tracey MacArthur, president and CEO of Canada's Hamilton Health Sciences, said in a statement.
That meant expanding services and reducing visits to the hospital, among other things, per the hospital's 2023-24 Impact Report.
The report, released Tuesday, also noted that the hospital is one of Canada's top research hospitals, with "unwavering commitment to research and innovation continues to set new benchmarks in healthcare standards."
Among its "strategic pillars" of patients, people, sustainability, and research and innovation, per the statement, are "training the next generation of healthcare professionals," as well as "environmentally responsible operations and modern facilities for future generations."
The report also noted that the hospital has been recognized by Accreditation Canada for Exemplary Standing by Accreditation Canada in 2023 for its "unwavering commitment to quality and safety," as well as for its "unwavering commitment to recruitment to build a sustainable workforce."
The Hamilton Spectator reports that the report also noted that the hospital has had a "positive impact" on the local community, with the number of people living within a 50-mile radius of the hospital increasing by 5% between 2013 and 2017.
