"Kent helps anyone who needs help even before being asked," says Rhonda Bartlett.

"Kent is always helpful, civic-minded, and trustworthy."

The 55-year-old from Howe, Ind., was recently awarded the Heart of Gold award from the LaGrange County Community Foundation, which calls Andrews "a man with a heart for serving his community," per WFFT.

The 40-year volunteer firefighter is known for helping neighbors with everything from snow removal to building and installing a free little library in the town park, per the foundation.

Bartlett, who's won the award for the past 15 years, says Andrews is the perfect choice for the award, which is bestowed upon a volunteer who has made an "outstanding contribution to his or her community," per the foundation's website.

The foundation also handed out $74,557 in grants last week.
