If you're in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and craving fried chicken, you're in luck.

The Iowa West Foundation has given out 37 mini-grants of between $500 and $5,000 to community groups, including the brain and body class at the Lakin YMCA that recently enjoyed a meal at Bayliss Park, reports the Nonpareil of Council Bluffs.

"Everybody gets along with everybody," says class member Butch Sales, who has Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, and dementia.

"I'm able to continue with my life."

The Community Foundation of Western Iowa also recently announced the latest round of community impact grants, offering grants between $500 and $5,000 to benefit projects aimed to improve the lives of county residents.

Among the 37 recipients: food pantries, programs like PACE's Music in the Park, the annual Southwest Iowa Art Tour, and Avoca Holidays on Main.

But there's also $3,000 toward Abraham Lincoln baseball's capital campaign, $3,000 toward bleacher replacements for the Carson Community Rodeo, and $1,000 for diapers for Pottawattamie County residents through the Nebraska Diaper Bank, reports the Nonpareil.
