Blue Ridge Health Awarded $42,000 Grant

The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina is making a big investment in children's health in the area.

The group has awarded a $42,000 grant to Blue Ridge Health, which will use it to buy new equipment for its pediatric pulmonology office, reports the Asheville Citizen-Times.

Specifically, the money will go to the purchase of high-level equipment for pulmonary function testing, or PFT, which is used to diagnose diseases of the lungs.

Blue Ridge Health is one of only two board-certified pediatric pulmonologists in the region, and one of only three child neurologists in the state.

"By enabling more accurate diagnosis, personalized treatment plans, and ongoing monitoring of respiratory diseases, the PFT equipment will have a transformative impact on patient care, supporting better outcomes and educational initiatives within our region," says BRH CEO Richard Hudspeth.
