Scientists from around the world are meeting in New York this week to discuss how to harness the power of artificial intelligence to solve some of the world's biggest problems, the New York Times reports.
According to a press release, the UN's 9th Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology, and Innovation focused on using science, technology, and innovation to achieve the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, which include eradicating poverty, reducing hunger, and combating climate change.
The forum's theme was "Science, technology, and innovation for the reinforcing 2030 Agenda and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises," the Guardian reports.
Scientists from around the world are meeting to discuss how to use AI to solve some of the world's biggest problems, including poverty, climate change, and security, the Times reports.
According to the UN, using AI to solve some of the world's biggest problems will require "more and more effective funding and capacity for scientific cooperation, technology, and knowledge sharing and accelerating innovation for integrated climate action."
The president of the UN General Assembly, Dennis Francis, says using AI to solve some of the world's biggest problems "must now be transformed into tangible actions" that will "drive sustainable development and build much-needed capacities
