The Community Foundation of Shelby County in Ohio recently handed out more than $143,000 in grants, and one recipient in particular stands out.
That would be Anna Rescue, which received a $20,000 grant to purchase five radios for the county's new communication system, the Dayton Daily News reports.
Anna Rescue is a volunteer organization that responds to emergencies in the area, and the radios will be used to explain the county's new communication system to students in the Guys in Ties and Girls in Pearls programs at Sidney Middle School.
The other recipients are: Catholic Social Services of Miami County, $10,000 for a mentoring program in three county schools; Elizabeth's Life Center, $4,000 for furnishings and technology for a men's mentoring room; Habitat for Humanity of Miami and Shelby Counties, $15,000 for home repair materials through its Critical Home Repair Program;ickory Trail Education Center, $2,000 for riding helmets and tack used in the equestrian therapy program; and Mercy Mission House, $10,000 for security upgrades to the historic Sidney Theatre.
