A Vermont man who shot and killed his wife's best friend before killing himself has been sentenced to life in prison, the AP reports.
Prosecutors say 46-year-old James "JC" Lundberg shot and killed 49-year-old Patricia Lundberg in their Lyndonville home on Feb.
11.
They say Lundberg shot himself in the head after arguing with his wife, who was visiting from New York.
He was also shot in the shoulder and in the chest.
The Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife says Lundberg has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for second-degree murder.
He was previously convicted of first-degree manslaughter in the death of his wife, who died of a gunshot wound to the head.
He was also convicted of second-degree manslaughter in the death of his father, who died of a gunshot wound to the chest.
Lundberg's best friend, 46-year-old Sara Manitoski, was seriously injured in the shooting.
She was released from the hospital in March and is expected to survive.
She told police that after the shooting, Lundberg told her, "I'm going to kill my best friend, and I'm going to shoot myself in the head," the Caledonian Record reports.
