A Japanese professor who invented fretless and fretted electric harp guitars is returning to the US for a two-month residency at SUNY Fredonia.
Tim Donahue, who invented the fretless and fretted electric harp guitars in the 1980s, will perform solo on his own hand-built harp guitar and electric guitars, and will be followed by a student band consisting of violin, bass, keyboards, and vocals.
The April 25 concert is free and open to the public, the Buffalo News reports.
"An evening of intense rock, funk, heavy metal and Irish pieces," Donahue says of the concert, "which will range from heavy funk and passionate rock balances, along with a heavy metal track and even a traditional Irish-influenced selection."
Donahue is an EMI recording artist, and his residency is supported by the Williams Visiting Professor Fund of the Fredonia College Foundation.
