When Kathy Ramsey started teaching at John Gregg Elementary School in Holland, Mich., in the fall, she didn't set out to make a huge impact on her students' lives.
But that's exactly what she's done after receiving a $1,500 grant from the Bergholz Community Foundation, Today reports.
"I have keyboard stations," Ramsey says.
"I have times where kids come and utilize music room on different grade levels."
Specifically, she's had third- and sixth-grade students play the ukulele, ukulele, boomphones, flute-form notes, and whackers, she says.
Now she's hoping to add lower-grade students to the mix.
The $1,480 keyboard kits, which come with pedals, stands, headphones, and benches, are for third- and sixth-grade students only, Ramsey says, but she'd like to expand to lower grades in the future.
"They can practice how they listen to how different instruments play and not bother anybody else," she says.
"I think I have something like four piano stations, so I'm excited about that."
