Arsht Cannon Fund Announces $600,000 in Grants

The Arsht-Cannon Fund has awarded more than $600,000 in grants to Latino-serving nonprofit organizations in Delaware, the News Journal reports.

The grants are intended to provide educational opportunities for the state's Latino families, per the Arsht-Cannon Fund's website.

The grants were awarded in six categories: language and literacy, early childhood through college education, arts and entertainment, community engagement, and college access.

Here's a look at some of the projects and their grants: Language:utheran Church of Our Savior's English as a Second Language (Down Syndrome) Program.

$30,000 to support program expansion and three leadership positions for this innovative program celebrating 20 years of supporting Sussex County immigrant families.

ESL/Family Literacy:Polytech Adult Education's ESL/Family Literacy Program.

$28,000 to support four paraprofessional positions for its comprehensive literacy programs serving Latino families in Kent County.

Early childhood through college education programs: Read Aloud Delaware's Bilingual Outreach Program, LENA Start.

$38,000 to support two bilingual coordinator positions and LENA Start Program costs statewide.

Arts and entertainment:Wilmington Children's Chorus.

$32,000 to support teaching artists and program coordinator salaries and education and program costs in New Castle County.Rodel Foundation of Delaware's
