After more than 50 years of service in Grand Haven, Mich., the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation is getting a new home.

The nonprofit will be moving from its current location in downtown Grand Haven to what was the city's water distribution facility in 1927, MLive.com reports.

"The larger and more innovative space is essential to expand our team and programs to serve our community for many years," says foundation president Hadley Streng.

The foundation, founded in May 1971, had no paid staff or an office when it moved to its current location in 1985.

It had $2.1 million in assets and 14 staff members when it moved to the new location in 1985.

"We are fortunate to be located in such a generous community that has a long history of supporting the GHACF," Streng says.

"Looking to the future, I envision the foundation and our partners continuing to grow and evolve to collaboratively address needs in our region."

The foundation will be moving into 8,653-square-foot office space at 6 Sherman Ave., owned by the Jackoboice family, which has a long-standing relationship with the foundation.

"It is our hope that this iconic building will increase visibility and help support additional growth for the GHACF," says George Jackoboice Jr.
