If you're in the Palm Springs, Calif., area, there's a good chance you've never heard of the Palm Springs Dance Project.

But that's about to change.

The nonprofit was created by Darcy Carozza in 2017 as a kind of "seedling experiment," she tells the Desert Sun.

"We didn't have a community of dance that was working together or making it super accessible," she says.

Since then, it's grown into a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that offers professional dance programs, community programming, and film presentations, among other things.

Its next big event will be a Nov.

19 event called "The Connoisseur Club," which will feature 10 dancers and three "innovative choreographers" in an "immersive installation show," Carozza says.

"So, we're very excited about a new dimension of experiencing it."

In addition, the group will offer free community dance classes for people of all levels on Nov.

20.

"Think of these as accessible master classes by top dancing artists," Carozza says.

As for the group's mission: "We're not a dance troupe or a dance academy," she says.

"We exist solely to create an accessible environment of dance for our community."
