"It's a joy to work at Venture North," says the nonprofit's president. "For us, that joy comes from working arm-in-arm with hundreds of small businesses, community leaders, philanthropic interests ranging from private individuals to large foundations, and, of course our partners with business, nonprofit organizations and governments at all levels."

Venture North Funding and Development in Traverse City, Mich., has helped more than a dozen local businesses secure more than $1 million in loans and grants over the past two years, MLive.com reports.

Venture North's revolving loan program has provided more than $1.2 million in loans to 12 local companies, half of which are startups and half owned by women, per a press release.

Many of the businesses Venture North helped in 2021 are still in business, 95% of which received grants in 2021.
