The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation awarded 199 organizations with spring grants totaling more than $84 million.
The grants gifts were given to programs that support global development, education, performing arts, philanthropy, the environment, and the population.
Among the project areas, the environment projects received the most dollars which include Health Effects Institute in Boston's research on the health effects of pollution.
