Foundation: Pikes Peak Community Foundation, Denver Foundation
The Justice Reinvestment Crime Prevention Initiative taps $4 million in annual savings from the state parole fund.
The project taps $1 million in low-interest, small-business loans and $3 million in grants for nonprofits, schools and local governments.
The program is based on the theory that the individuals and organizations working on the front lines of a community best know how to reduce crime.
