Newman's Own Foundation Puts New Focus on Native American Nutritional Health
Foundation: Santa Fe Community Foundation, Newman's Own Foundation
Newman's Own Foundation will allocate $1.5 million in grants over two years.
23 percent of Native households lack access to adequate food due to financial limitations.
Up to 50 percent of children within this demographic are overweight or obese by the age of 10 as a result of the absence of fresh and healthy food options.
The nonprofits participating are the Minneapolis-based American Indian Cancer Foundation; Center for Rural Affairs in Lyons, Nebraska.
