Local Initiatives Support Corp. (LISC) has raised $12 billion for community investment, primarily residential and commercial projects, representing a shift in philanthropic philosophy for the Caterpillar Foundation, which has donated about $50 million to Peoria-area programs over the past three years.
Michele Sullivan, vice president of Cat Foundation said that the foundation has typically donated money to nonprofits that deal with poverty, poor-performing schools and high crime rates.
