Laura Brown of the Tahoe Truckee elementary school was interviewed as the school is being honored for its fourth Pacesetters award. The award is one of 38 for 2016. The school provides a summer program to increase reading proficiency in a low income population. They are preparing children for success as it is known that by fourth grade many low income students will be behind in this key skill and this can have livelong consequences for many.
We see a picture of one of the classrooms reminding us that these vulnerable and smiling children are full of unfulfilled promise. It is critical to give these youngsters a needed boost when they are at such a formative age. The dedicated professionals at Tahoe Truckee are the instrument of this progress!
